The speaker of Ogun state House of Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo has revealed how some powerful people in the state fueled cultism.
Oluomo said some elites and community heads in the state are fond of securing bail of suspected cultists from police custody.
This gesture, Oluomo lamented was contributing to the increased cult clashes in the state.
He however warned the people involved in the act of encouraging cultism to stop bailing them from the police custody.
He said this it was important to take drastic steps to curb the cult clash menace.
He urged the security agencies put in more effort in arresting perpetrators and ensure safety of lives and property in the state.
Oluomo also pleaded with the general public to work hand in hand with the security agencies, adding that they should always volunteer information that would lead to the arrest of cultist in the state.
He said “Citizens should provide necessary information. We must rid the state of cultism.
”The cultists are not ghost. Don’t go to station to bail cultist, how can leaders go to bail them, the elites, the community heads, we should rid the state of cultism,” he said.
Oluomo, however, enjoined the authority concerned that local security should be empowered for more effective security.
