Former Presidential aspirant under the All Progressives Congress (APC) platform, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has remained silent over his next move since stepping down for the winner of the Presidential Primary, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Senator representing Ogun Central has however continued to beckon on his supporters to embrace support the candidature of Tinubu as the next President.
Recall that Amosun stepped down after making his speech before the APC presidential primary election was conducted in Abuja. His stepping down was after former governor of Akwa Ibom and Minister of Niger Delta affairs, Godswill Akpabio stepped down for Tinubu
The former governor of Ogun State while addressing his supporters at the Ake arcade ground in Abeokuta thanked them for their supports pleading that they extend same to the APC Presidential candidate.
The lawmaker however made no comment on his next political move.
In his words, “Let me tell you this, you sent me to Abuja to go and work for us, I told them when I addressed them why I want to be president of Nigeria. But my wanting to be president of Nigeria cannot supersede the interest of all of us in Nigeria, all of us in the south, all of us in the southwest. It got to a point that we realised when our brother governors from the north, when they are even rooting to say we want Presidency to go to the south.
“Then we say if we want presidency to come to the south, then all of us, we must find a way to unite, we must find a way to drop all these personal ambition for the overall interest of all of us in the entire south and particularly, the Southwest.
“Two years ago, I called them that I want to be President of Nigeria but my wanting to be President of Nigeria is just 20% and that 80% of it is that the presidency should come to the southwest; lo and behold, almighty God has answered that prayer, ultimately, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is our flagbearer will be the President of this great nation, Nigeria.
“So, what I want you to do, all the love, all the support, all the prayer that you have been giving to me, continue but please extend that support and prayer to our flagbearer, support APC, let us all campaign round because this is the only country that we have.
While assuring that the Tinubu led administration will increase power generation and distribution to 15000 megawatts, Amosun urged Nigerians to show firm belief in the country by being ‘incurable optimists.’
“I said it during my campaign for the presidential election that the about 6000 megawatts, within one year or so, I know our party and Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu will increase it to about 15,000 megawatts and I said it is not enough to just generate 15000, we must transmit and distribute. I don’t see a reason why Nigeria should not even have 100,000 megawatts.
“We should not be discouraged by what is happening around, we should be incurable optimists. Together we will get to the state where Nigeria will be just, free, no ethnic or religious bias. We are on the right path, we will get there gradually,” Amosun Added.
