The Abeokuta South Constituency 1 candidate under the Peoples’ Democratic Party, Olanrewaju Enilolobo has joined World Leaders at the 26th Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Kigali, Rwanda.
The meeting which started on Monday, June 20 and to end Sunday 26, 2022 would host the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson; the Australian Prime Minister, Anthony Albanese; the Canadian Prime Minister, Justin Tradeau; the South African President, Cyril Ramaphosa; Nigerian President, Muhammadu Buhari and other World Leaders.
The biennial meeting which brings together the 54 countries that make up the Commonwealth – a club of mostly former British territories and colonies, 19 of which are African countries every year.
The Commonwealth leaders are in Rwanda to reaffirm their common values and agree actions and policies to improve the lives of all their citizens. Decisions taken at CHOGM also guide the work programme of the Commonwealth Secretariat.
The theme of this year’s meeting, “Delivering a Common Future: Connecting, Innovating, Transforming” would be discussed by monarchs, presidents and prime ministers of the 54 countries.
The heads of governments meeting are preceded by Four Forums (The Commonwealth Business Forum, The Commonwealth Women Forum, The Commonwealth Youth Forum, The Commonwealth People’s Forum), ministerial meetings, side events and other activities.
Enilolobo who had attended the meeting in 2018 is one of the few Nigerians to have been invited to join the discussions at the Commonwealth Business Forum. He was also invited to join the CHOGM 2018 in London.
The young business leader who hopes to bring in his education, knowledge and exposure if elected to represent Abeokuta South Constituency 1 in the Ogun State House of Assembly.
