Some residents of Oke-Ata community area of Abeokuta, Ogun State capital have alleged that politicians are fond of constructing roads to garner votes from people .
PLATFORM TIMES observed that a federal constituency project has just commenced in the area two months ago.
PLATFORM TIMES observed further that the road project was majorly a bridge linking Ita-Oshin and Oke-Ata area, leading to the Oke-Ata Housing Estate.
Some residents of the area lamented that the road has been deplorable for three years, but the recent development shows that it was being fixed to garner votes.
They also said the construction of the main road may not solve the problem If the bad state of the road in the locality in not attended to .
They, however, urged the government to construct communities roads.
One of the residents who identifies herself as Iya Ibo, said: “The road has been like that since. But, now election is coming. It is the councillor that is doing it because of election and they will not finish it. If they win, they will complete as compensation for the people. That is how they use to do.”
Another resident, Tunji Ibrahim, said, “our roads are not good here in Oke-Ata. But recently they have started constructing gutters and bridges in one of the major roads but we hope they don’t abandon It again.”
