A faction loyal to the former governor of Ogun state, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has denied any planned defection of its members .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that there was confusion in the camp of the former governor who had recently held a meeting with his memwbes at th Ake palace ground, publicly saying, he remains in the All Progressives Congress.
It was further gathered that media reports had indicated that members of the group who were disenfranchised by the Dapo Abiodun faction of the APC during the party primaries .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered Amosun’s loyalists had banked on a unity list which gave its faction two senators seats , three house of representatives and 11 Ogun state house of assembly seats .
It was further gathered that the APC presidential candidate of the party ,Bola Tinubu was said to have promised to implement the unity list , but, the governor however reportedly refused to accept the list .
Apparently disappointed with the development, some members of Amosun group had reportedly set to ditch APC for an opposition party to realise their political ambition .
But, reacting to the rumoured political meeting of the group, one of the leaders of the group, Chairman of Association of former Local Government Chairmen, Ogun State, Hon Engr. Saheed Ariori said there was no plan to hold any meeting on Wednesday (today)
The statement read this “the attention of the Association of former Local Government Chairmen in Ogun State has been drawn to stories making the rounds about a purported directive of a meeting of former local government chairmen who are members of the SIA Group slated for the OOPL in Abeokuta tommorrow.
“This has generated reactions and emotional outbursts from different local government chapters of the group across the state. I wish to state that there was no such directive from the leadership of the SIA Group.
“I call on all members of the group to remain calm and be rest assured that the group remains in the APC and is not contemplating defection from the party.
“We call on all members of the APC to remain calm. Members should please desist from further commments and controversy on the matter. No meeting of the group has been called for Wednesday 29, 2022.”
