The Nigeria Police Force Public Relations Officer, CSP, Muyiwa Adejobi says the popular Fuji musician, Alhaji Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, aka, KWAM 1 would have been his mentor if he had chosen music career and not police job .
Adejobi who spoke in Abeokuta at the the celebration of 50 years on stage of KWAM 1 organised by the Freelance and Independent Broadcasters Association of Nigeira .
The force PRO said music industry can help mitigate the insecurity challenge facing the country.
He said “If I have not been a policeman now, I may be a musician today and KWAM 1 will have been a mentor to me.”
Explaining the significance of music , Adejobi said “Entertainment and security will go together. There is nobody who will be at this event today that will go and fight or plan how to rob in thr society.
“Entertainment brings joy and succour to the land. I am a Christian and I have been told and read wha King David used music to do in the Bible.
“And same thing is applicable this day. You can imagine the young talents who are singing today, award winners across the country who are Nigerians.”
PLATFORM TIMES further reports that the high rank policeman noted that if some youths are not being engaged in the entertainment industry, the changes of insecurity plaguing the country would have been double .
He said “Many talents are coming up. If those ones are not in the entertainment industry, I am sure it is going to be an additional problem to me on the field and other security agencies.”
Muyiwa however appealed that the entertainment industry to be strengthened to accommodate more talents.
“So, entertainment to us, like we have in sports, is very good for us and I think we need to develop on this. Our tourism sector must be developed. Entertainment must have a boost from all sectors. And of course our sports must have a boost as well.
“So all these must come together to help us have good security in our country.
“Some of us that are in the security know that music normally helps in curbing crime and criminality in our society.”
He however, urged youths to abstain from crime and illegal means of livelihood .
He admoniaed them to develop their talents and make a living from it.
He said “So I want to urge the youths who have talent, everyone has a talent, develop your talent and use it wisely for your own good and for the good of the society.”
