The Police in Osun State have confirmed the release of a baker, Mr Sikiru Ayinde from kidnapper’s den.
Yemisi Opalola, Police Spokesperson in the State confirmed the baker’s freedom in a statement on Wednesday.
“One Sikiru Ayinde who was kidnapped on 18/07/22 while going to distribute bread to his customers in Ifewara area has been released on 19/07/22 at about 2130hrs. He has gone for treatment at undisclosed hospital” Mrs Opalola said.
Mr Ayinde was kidnapped on Monday by some yet to be identified gunmen at about 4am while he was on his way to supply bread to his customers at Oke Ado junction, along Ilesa road.
The abductors were reported to have demanded N5m ransom from his family but after negotiations, it was reduced to N500,000.
But, the Police spokesperson told our reporter that the command is not aware whether the victim’s family paid ransom or not.
“I do not know, all what I know is what I sent to you”. Opalola said.
Efforts to get family members of the victim to speak on the abduction and release was unsuccessful as none of them were ready to speak to the media.
