The Registrar, Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, Prof Ishaq Oloyede, on Tuesday, boasted that score inflation or buying of results for the unified tertiary matriculation examination is now impossible under his watch.
Prof Oloyede, who spoke at an event organised by Abeokuta Club, Ibara in Abeokuta, Ogun, argued that he has drastically reduced malpractices in the conduct of the examination since he assumed office in 2017.
Placing a bet of one million naira, he challenged anyone to attempt to inflate a UTME score
He noted that people make attempts to alter their UTME scores but they were only tricked and duped, as such was no longer possible.
He said, “You should be able to manage the place properly. I can say it today that if anybody can prove to have increased his/her UTME score under my watch, I will give you one million naira.
“What I am saying is that we have put in place elements to check it.
“People go and buy but they don’t matter because we have the master copy. That is why we are telling people to not fall into the trick of people telling them that they can increase their marks.
“Since 2017 till today, you have one person that can say that somebody was able to change his/her score by one mark, I will give that person one million naira from my own pocket.”
Prof. Oloyede thereafter advised admission-seekers to desist from the inconceivable act, adding that “the only shortcut to success is hard work.”
“It’s not possible. Please, be all warned: there is no shortcut to success. The only shortcut to success is hard work and I want to urge you not to fall into the tricks of these people,” he advised.
