Soleye Azeez, an occupant of a three-bed room flat on Tuesday was brought before a Grade II customary court sitting in Agbeloba, Abeokuta for refusing to pay three years house rent.
The caretaker, Joseph Damilare who represented the house owner at the court is seeking the court order to eject the occupant from the apartment located around Somorin area of Abeokuta, capital of Ogun State.
The caretaker, Damilare told the court that the tenant refused to vacate the apartment after statutory and mandatory quit notices were served on him.
Defending himself before the court, the tenant who claimed to be a non – teaching staff at an undisclosed Federal University said he could not afford to pay for the house rent because he was not paid seven months salaries.
Delivering judgement, the president, Hon. V.O Soyoye ordered the tenant to vacate the apartment within a month.
“The court orders that defendant is to vacate the said accommodation of the 3 bedroom flats at Somorin on or before 1st November, 2022 unfailingly. He should hand over the keys of the 3 bedroom apartment to the plaintiff or caretaker before final exit.”
