Five persons in connection with the murder of Fatai Adigun, the manager of a Mobil Petrol Station in Ikire area of Osun State have been remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Center.
The suspects are Adamo Aliyu, 24; Damilola Kayode, 22; Yusuf Idris, 22; Odewunmi Sodiq, 26; and Adeshina Ayomide, 38.
Premium Times had reported how the suspects were paraded at the police headquarters in Osogbo.
They were however arraigned by the police before a Magistrate Court sitting in Osogbo, the capital of Osun State on count charges bordering on conspiracy, felony , armed robbery and murder.
Fatoba Temitope, the police prosecutor told the court that the accused persons and others still at large robbed a Mobil petrol station, hit spanner on the petrol station manager’s head which led to his death and carted away monies and other valuables.
The prosecutor said the accused persons were arrested by local security agencies including hunters and forest guards.
“The accused persons committed offences contrary to Section 6(b) and punishable under sections 1(1) and 1(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Forearms (Special Provisions) Act, Cap R 11, Volume 14, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004,” Mr Temitope said.
“They also committed offences contrary to and punishable under Section 324, 319(1), 419, and 390(6)(9) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Volume II, Laws of Osun State, 2002,” the prosecutor added.
The defendants pleaded guilty to the charges against them.
The Magistrate, A. K. Ajala therefore ordered that the accused persons should be remanded at the Ilesa Correctional Centre.
