A man, Salami Abimbola has dragged his tenant, Abioye Oyeyemi to a Grade II Costumary Court sitting at Quarry road, Agbeloba, Abeokuta, Ogun State for alleged refusal to pay his accumulation house rent.
The plaintiff who is the caretaker of a building at No 4, Segun Ogunseye Street, Abule Oloni, Abeokuta, said the defendant occupied a three bedroom flat, at the N12,000 per month, amounting to N144,000 per year.
The plaintiff told the court that the defendant is owing rent arrears from December 2021 till date equivalent to N108,000.
He said the defendant has been issued with both statutory and mandatory quit notices required by law but has refused to vacate the said apartment.
The plaintiff prayed the court for the claiming of rent arrears, ejection of the defendant from the said apartment and for him to surrender the keys to the landlord before final exit on the grounds of owing of rent, renovation and personal use.
At the last court sitting, the defendant promised the court to be paying the money that he is owing bits by bits and now, defendant said he will bring another money to the court, by the end of month which is 30th of November, 2022.
Delivering judgement, Hon. M.A Mabinuori ordered that the defendant brings part of the money to the the court on the next adjournment date.
The suit was hereby adjourned till 30th November, 2022.
