The Elder statesman and leader of the Pan Niger Delta Forum, Chief Edwin Clark has declared that Without restructuring Nigeria the people are going nowhere.
He also cried against discrimination and lack of inclusiveness, saying, no ethnic group is minority in the Nigeria Project .
Clark alleged that the discriminatory attitude by some people in the country against another people has been our problem in Nigeria.
He advised that no tribe should be seen as a minority or recognized as superior and most powerful than the other.
Clark who spoke in an interview with The Punch ,extracted by PLATFORM TIMES , said Nigeria as country
practises ‘rule of law’ which states that nobody is above the law.
He lamented that the reverse is the case in Nigeria , saying that, the positions occupied has made some people to be above the laws .
Clark said “the issue of discrimination is now a delicate issue that should be taken care of and not over looked, otherwise things will fall apart in our country.
“No particular group should be seen as minority or recognized as superior and most powerful than the other.
“This discriminatory attitude has been our problem in Nigeria. Can you imagine a situation where the government has not done anything in the issue of Fulani and Hausa, the Fulani in particular, Buhari has done nothing yet to solve the problem of herdsmen who carries AK-47 but it will be considered a crime if another individual is seen with AK-47.
“No citizen of Nigeria should be religated to nothing, every Nigerian has the right to enjoy full citizenship. But a situation where there are six zones, one zone has five states, another has six while the other has seven state. It is not fair. Since we are sure of one Minister in every appointment, it affects their monetary take.
Power should not be left in the hands of a particular tribe or set of people. There should be oneness as ‘one Nigeria’
“We ask for restructuring of this country during the 2014 National conference.
“Without restructuring the country and the people are going nowhere. If me and you are doing our jobs well, are we going to hate ourselves? No, but if anybody is excluded, that person will read meaning into it and it will be seen as discrimination.
