Infamous Internet fraudster and socialite Ramon Abbas, popularly known as Hushpuppi, has been sentenced to 11 years imprisonment by a United States court.
The United States Central District Court in California made the sentencing on Friday after the Instagram celebrity was found guilty of fraud and money laundering earlier.
Hushpuppi had been arrested in Dubai following a thorough investigation which eventually led to his extradition to the United states.
He was brought in over allegations of an extensive fraud scheme that robbed victims of their money in the U.S, Qatar, the United Kingdom, and other places.
He was charged with fraud and money laundering, multiple counts of hacking, impersonation, scamming, banking fraud, and identity theft.
Hushpuppi who had pleaded guilty to the charges however wrote a letter to the judge begging for leniency as he promised to return the money he stole to his victims.
He will spend 9 years in Jail after spending 2 years in detention already.
