An Ogun State magistrate court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta on Tuesday, sentenced an 18-year-old teenager, Olamide Olasande to seven years imprisonment for stealing cable wires valued at three hundred and ninety seven thousand Naira.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that on the 31st of October, 2022 at about 10pm, the defendant broke into an uncompleted building of one Yemi Fadipe situated at Ibukunoluwade community Ilese-Awo, Abeokuta.
It was also gathered that the defendant removed eight rolls of 1.5 mm single cable wire, 4 rolls of 4mm single cable wires, 6 rolls of 2.5mm single cable wires, 2 rolls of 6mm single cable wires valuing N397,000 in total from the conduit pipe.
PLATFORM TIMES further gathered that the defendant was spotted by a security man, Usman Muhammad who raised alarm to the vigilantes in the area, which led to the arrest of the cable thief.
Delivering her judgement, chief magistrate O.M Somefun sentenced Olasande to seven years imprisonment without an option of fine.
