The Honorable Commissioner for Science and Technology, Delta state, Mrs. Jennifer Adasen Efeviroro has said the state government, through state innovation, has equipped youths in the state, especially the unemployed graduates to different skills to enable them to compete with their equals globally in science and technology.
The Honorable commissioner revealed this on Thursday at the state secretariat, Asaba, during an interview with journalists to mark the celebration of world Science Day, 2022 with the theme: Basic science for sustainable development.
Adasen noted that the state government is targeting the basics of science and technology from the scratch by introducing it to different institutions from the basic level and not getting to their peak of education before bringing sciences to them.
She disclosed that women are now more involved in sciences unlike the formal when they easily run away from it, noting that most tech- world, digital world and even in the ecosystem are being controlled by women.
She said the state government have trained and over 592 youths have benefitted in different categories of the skills from web development, UIUS, mobile development and solar installation, Inverter, computer repairs and installation and many more.
She maintained that the state government in her proactive steps has bridged the gap between what youths learned in the university and what is required in the industries.
she said “ today you can see a lot of Deltans youths doing their own businesses from the comfort of their homes because of the skills they have acquired from the training”.
She advised youths to key into science and take it seriously, saying the whole world evolved around science and that we can’t do work without science today.
