PLATFORM TIMES reports that the protest is scheduled to hold at the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC)’s office at Samanda in Ibadan the Oyo State capital at 7:00am on Thursday.
The Chairman of NUPCPS in the zone, Joseph Oyadiran, said that their members have not been fairly treated having contributed to national development while in service.
Oyadiran stated that they had written letters to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, Oyo State Chapter and the headquarters at Abuja, but their efforts yielded no result.
The senior citizens alleged that top officials of the National Pension Commission were holding on to their hard earned allowances after their retirement.
Oyadiran said the protest would take place in less than two hours, saying the protest is planned to press home their demand and enable other citizens of the country see how they are being treated.
The chairman said, “All members of NUPCPS Oyo state chapter and the southwest are cordially invited to ICPC’s office tomorrow morning by 7:00.
“We want to have a protest so that ICPC will know that their delay in giving us a reply to our letter to them both their headquarters at Abuja since October 12, 2021 and 27th of March, 2022 as well as DSS, we wrote to them, we submitted documents on our shortfall to them but up till tomorrow, they have not replied our letters.
“So, we want to stage a protest, the reason why we make it 7:00a.m is, we have invited all pressmen, we will line up at the main road, all pensioners under contributory pension will be on the road tomorrow morning by 7:00 am so that people going to work, to UI, people going to Dugbe will be seeing aged people on the road with placards so they will know that something is wrong.
“So we want everyone to be there tomorrow morning and by 8:00 – 8:30am, we are off the road.”
