A gang of kidnappers have struck again, abducting two businessmen on a farmland in Itori, Ewekoro local government area of Ogun state .
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the kidnappers reportedly swooped on an investor identified as Moruf Osoba and a Surveyor while inspecting a farmland for a purchase .
The incident reportedly occured last week Wednesday .
The kidnappers were said to have demanded N20M million ransom but, later reportedly collected N2 million before releasing them on Friday .
A source told PLATFORM TIMES “they were two . They were in a farm in Itori when the kidnappers stormed the place and took them away. They were released after the payment of N2m ransom.”
When contacted , the Police Public Relations Officer in the state ,SO, Abimbola Oyeyemi confirmed the incident .
Oyeyemi however denied the knowledge of payment of ransom to the kidnappers.
He said “I am aware of the incident. It happened in Itori.”
When asked if the police command knew about the payment of ransom , PPRO said ” I am not aware of payment of ransom .
“There is no way such a thing will happen and the police command would not do anything .
“They felt the heat and hurriedly released them.
“Those whose families were kidnapped don’t tell us before they took ransom to the kidnappers .
” It is a very serious issue . We understand their plights and know how they feel when their members were kidnapped . But, we all need to be careful on how we go about payment of ransom.”
