An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo Area of Abeokuta, on Monday ordered the remand of one Bakare Abdullahi to Ibara correctional centre over an alleged attempted kidnap.
Abdullahi was accused of attempting to kidnap one Muhammed Sulaimon and demanding the sum of N600,000 from him.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the defendant was arrested on 10th October, 2022 and arraigned on a three count charge bordering on felony and attempted kidnap.
The prosecuting counsel, I.A Opayemi told the court that the defendant committed the offence at Ilewo Orile village in Abeokuta, the state capital.
The prosecuting counsel noted that the defendant conspired to commit felony, remand property with menace and attempted to kidnap.
He added that the defendant committed an offence contrary to and punishable under section 516A(1) of the criminal code law of Ogun State of Nigeria, 2006.
However, the chief magistrate O.A Akamo ordered that the defendant be remanded to the Nigerian Correctional Service, Ibara for 60 days.
The case was adjourned till 16th January, 2023.
