Following the controversies and crisis which erupted after the enthronement of new Akirun of Ikirun Land, Oba Yunus Olalekan Akadri, a concerned resident, Segun Abolaji has urged residents to embrace peace.
The chairman, Leisure courts, a leading real estate company in Nigeria, Abolaji appealed to all aggrieved indigenes of Ikirun Land to sheath their swords and give peace a chance in the interest of development of their heritage.
The real estate guru in a message on Friday, noted that no society can witness meaningful development in an atmosphere filled with rancour, violence adding that all parties should go jaw jaw and dialogue so as to preserve the unity of purpose and peaceful coexistence the Ikirun people is known for
“It saddens my heart to see that as noble as we are, what supposed to be a family affair has degenerated to a violent situation.
“This is alien to us. The king has been elected and given staff of office, let there be peace.
“It’s heartbreaking to see the recent events happening in Ikirun that has always been peaceful, Kingship shouldn’t be a do or die affair. If truly the aggrieved parties want to serve, why burning down the palace and causing havoc, Let us not forget history will never forget this”, he wrote.
He called on well meaning individuals and the state government to intervene in the ongoing crisis to avoid bloodshed and wanton destruction of properties.
Recall that the crisis started shortly after Prince Olalekan was elected as Oba-elect of Ikirun Land by the kingmakers with other rulling house staging claims to the throne.
