The Ogun state gubernatorial candidate of the Social Democratic Party, Asiwaju Tony Ojeshina has said that his dream for the state amis to make it self-sustained if elected in the 2023 general election as the governor of the state.
Ojeshina noted that this had been his dream when he contested in the 2012 general election where he was defeated by the former governor, Ibikunle Amosun.
He made this known during a press conference on Friday at the party’s secretariat in Abeokuta the state capital.
He assured that he would ensure Ogun is a producing state and not consuming .
The guber candidate said he has employed strategic imperatives and implementation road map that would ensure sustainable development for the state.
Ojeshina noted that his developmental revolutions are encapsulated under an acronym for his four strategic Pillars that are essentially I.E.A.I out of which the bases of his programmes and projects shall be built on.
He said, “for Ogun state, I have a dream. I had this dream in 2011 when I first contested.
“My dream is to have a state that can be self-sustained with or without federal allocation.
“And that’s the only way you can be able to improve the standard and equity of lives of the people of Ogun state.
“As long as you are dependent on the federal allocation then you can’t improve the standard and quality of lives of our people.
“So, in that wise, the objective is to create a model state. Nigeria today only has a state that can survive without the Federal allocation and that is not good enough.
“But we are close to Lagos state to capitalize on that consumer base if we do the right thing.
“How can we achieve the objective of ensuring that with or without federal allocation we can survive as a state.
“It is tied into four things which I called Developmental Revolution. We call it the I. E. A. I
“The I stands for Industrial Revolution, the E stands for Energy Revolution, the A stands for Agricultural Revolution, and the I stands for Infrastructural Revolution.
“We are going to ensure Industrial Revolution through the Public-Private Sector partnership that Ogun state departs from being just a consumer state to a producer state. We have a lot of raw materials in the state that can be earnest into finished products.”
