The Abeokuta Sports Club has inducted former Deputy Governor of Ogun state, Alhaja Salmot Makanjuola Badru, the state Commissioner of Police, Lanre Bankole; a prominent and popular Fuji musician , Wasiu Ayinde, and 31 others as the club’s vice patrons.

The club, on Friday, during its commissioning of project and investiture programme inducted no fewer than 33 patrons and vice patrons alongside 75 new members into the club.
The club also gave the go-ahead for the Megamound Project, which bears the name of Otunba Olumide Osunsina, Managing Director of Megamound Investment Limited.

While commissioning the project, Osunsina appreciated the club, saying “the Megamound project is worth more than what he has given. This has encouraged the need to invest more in projects like this.”
Speaking at the event, the president of the club, Olusola Egbesola, emphasized on the importance of sports on every human health.
Egbesola said the benefits of sport cannot be over emphasized, as he enjoined members and non members to achieve good health status by using the sporting facilities that are available within the club.
He also disclosed that there are Saturday morning exercise available to everyone for them to keep fit.
He said, “The importance and the need to take the issues of our health seriously, i want to implore you to imbibe good self health practices in terms of good hygiene, sports and exercises like an everyday business as the benefits of these cannot be overemphasized.
“Let us take advantage of our sporting facilities within the Club to achieve these objectives.
“In that vein, non members are also welcome to the Keep Fit Section every Saturday morning by 7am.”
The event had in attendance the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland; Oba Adedotun Gbadebo, the People’s Democratic party Governorship Candidate, Oladipupo Adebutu, Ogun State Head of service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro, Tesly Group Chairman; Otunba Lawal-Solarin, the Iyasuna of Ogun State; Chief Adebisi Edlonseri; Chairman, Senate Committee on Finance; Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, among others.
