Men of Jigawa Police command have arrested a 30-year-old woman Balaraba Shehu and her partner, Amadu Sale, alias Dan Kwairo for burying their newly born baby alive.

in Kiyawa local government area of the State following a tip off
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state,DSP Lawan Adam explained that the couple were arrested following a tip off that Shehu was suspected to have given birth and buried the new born baby.
He said “on receipt of the report, a team of Policemen mobilized and proceeded to the scene of the crime and on arrival, detectives swung into action and exhumed the new born baby from the toilet, where it was buried by the suspected mother.
Consequently, the baby was rushed to General Hospital Dutse, and was certified dead by Medical Doctor.
The police spokesperson said preliminary Investigation revealed that the mother buried the baby with the explanation that the pregnancy was unwanted which eventually led to the arrest of Amadu Sale alias Dan Kwairo.
He was alleged to be responsible for the unwanted pregnancy to the said Balaraba and conspired to bury the baby after delivery.
According to the statement the Commissioner of Police, Jigawa State Police Command, CP Emmanuel Effiom directed that, the case be transferred to SCID Dutse, for discreet Investigation.
The suspects would be charged to court to face the full weight of the law upon completion of investigation.
