The chairman of the local Organizing Committee for Delta 22 National Sports festival and Commissioner for information, Mr. Charles Aniagwu on Monday debunked some online media reports that some athletes were attacked by some hoodlum on their way to their camp at Issele-Uku.
Mr. Charles Aniagwu disclosed this at Asaba during a press briefing at the ongoing Delta 22 National Sport festival
He said the state government has provided adequate security possible to ensure that the athletes are comfortable at every venue where the event is holding, including their camps.
He said something people are just looking for what to push to the public to bring the reputation of the state down for their personal comfortable or political inclination.
He added, those individuals will not only put forward the wrong information but also mislead the public by painting the state wrongly.
According to him, ” there are some persons among us who possibly are just looking for something negative to push out even when it doesn’t exist”.
” Looking for something negative either to bring somebody down or to paint the wrong picture does not help our country, you end up not bringing the person down but end up communicating the wrong information”.
” When an individual either because of political inclination or little personal discomfort decided to abuse the privilege of having the medium to speak to the rest of the world, that will not be good for our country, not just Delta state”.
He, however commended the media for their assistance for their good courage of the event.
