The president of the Nigeria weightlifting federation (NWF) Dr. Ibrahim Abdul has warned weightlifters to desist from using drugs and compete for honour in the weightlifting event.
Dr. Ibrahim gave the warning at the Stephen Keshi stadium in Asaba at the ongoing 21st NSF, Delta 22, weightlifting that began yesterday.
Ibrahim who spoke on the eve of the event noted that the federation has zero tolerance for use of drug in Performance-enhancing substances and urged that the athletes should compete clean.
He said “there is no doubt that the atmosphere here in Asaba is motivating and the athletes are gearing to go, while both the athletes and officials wait with excitement for the commencement of weight lifting event”.
“As a federation, we have provided all that are needed for them to excel”, he added.
