Various Muslim organisations have lauded the Lagos state government on the approval of the wearing of Hijab by students in public schools across the state.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the approval followed the ruling of the Supreme Court which allows students to wear Hijab to school in Lagos State.
The use of Hijab in public schools had become a controversy in the state leading to the Muslim Students Society taking the matter to court in which they eventually get victory at the apex court.
However, the Lagos State Government, on Monday, issued a memo to implement the judgement of the Supreme Court.
The state government, in a memo signed by the state Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola, directed schools to comply with the Supreme Court ruling.
The government noted that it will soon release a comprehensive guideline on the use of Hijab in public schools.
The Lagos State Government said the court ruling is binding on all schools in the state, adding that as a law abiding institution, it will implement the ruling of the court.
Meanwhile , Muslim Rights Concern , the Muslim Students Society of Nigeria and many others have lauded the move ,urging the teachers and principals to obey the new decision .
