An Ogun State Magistrate Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta Ogun state has sentenced a 27-year-old truck driver to three months Imprisonment for driving recklessly.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the driver, Obedience Monday was docked on a four-count charge.
Monday however pleaded guilty to the crime.
The offence was committed on 13th March 2022 at Aro Area, along Abeokuta/Lagos Expressway.
The prosecutor, Inspector Lawrence Olu-Balogun told the court that the accused drove the truck recklessly in the early hour of 5:30 am and clashed with another scion Mini Jeep driven by a 53years old chief Kabiru Komodo.
He said “the accident’s victim sustained several injuries and was rushed to a nearby hospital for treatment.”
PLATFORM TIMES reports that the convict was also accused of escaping after the incident and was chased and caught at the Itori axis along Igbesa road.
Delivering her judgment, the magistrate, I.0 Abudu said the accused was guilty of the crime and should be prosecuted.
She, therefore, sentenced Obedience Monday to three months jail term concurrently or pay a fine of #80,000 to the injured victim.
