Torrential veiled verbal attacks were fired by the Ogun State Governor, Dapo Abiodun at his predecessor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who he described as a ‘warlord’.

Abiodun who refused to forget the past treatment he received from his predecessor ahead of 2019 election, accused Amosun’s government of turning campaign into “War and brigandage.”

Abiodun said this on Saturday, during the inauguration and unveiling of the All Progressives Congress state campaign council in Abeokuta .

He said “Three years and six months ago, we embarked on the herculean and life threatening journey to reclaim Ogun State back for the people, from the hands of a warlord who was already playing God in our dear State.

“We took the message of hope to the nooks and crannies of our State, preaching new lease of life and appealing to them to look at our side for genuine democratic dividends that would be evenly distributed across all the twenty Local Government and three Senatorial districts of our State.

“There were avalanche of threats and attack by the warlord and their miscreants against us just because they believed the collective patrimony of our people belongs only to them. But, the grace of God is sufficiently sufficient for us. The rest is now history.

“From the inception of our Administration, we have been committed to rekindling the hope and re-igniting the faith of the people in their own government.

“We have continued to create a level playing ground for all individuals irrespective of their Political affiliations.

“This is unlike the previous administration that turned the period of campaign into War and brigandage.”

Abiodun stated that one of the major challenges his administration experienced upon inception in office was the “inability of successive Governments to institutionalize the public financial framework to ensure fiscal sustainability and continuity.”

Hence, Abiodun stated that his administration has embarked on “several Fiscal Reforms in Public Finance Management.”

Governor Abiodun added in his address that his administration has achieved proactiveness  Wich was introduced into the political temperature in the state.

He said, “We have decided to lower down the political temperature by been tolerant and respectful of the activities of all political parties in the State.

“This is because, our Administration beliefs that sovereignty lies with the people and they vested it only on whom they deemed fit and not through brigandage and unnecessary heating up of the polity.

“We have continued to create a level playing ground for all individuals irrespective of their Political affiliations. This is unlike the previous administration that turned the period of campaign into War and brigandage.

“Undoubtedly, with the arrays of numerous projects and achievements we have recorded in the last three years and six months, our journey to industrializing our State has started and it behooves on us all to work together in the continuous vision in Building our Future together.

“As we proceed to meet our people to seek their votes in this campaign for all our candidates in the States, let me assure you all that, our Administration will remain unwaveringly committed to the equitable development of our State and the implementation of people oriented and purposeful infrastructure, in line with our policy of inclusiveness and good governance”

In addition to his address in the unveiling of the campaign council was the blueprint to his second term ambition.

The Governor emphasised on “Electrification of our Urban cities; project light up Ogun; adequate fund for provision of water supply; deploying technology for surveillance for crime detection in bid to become the safest place in Nigeria; support for the youths, poor and vulnerable people; leveraging gonnrhe oil resources in Tongeji Island and Olokola; intensification of the provision of health care centres per ward; implementation of multimodal tra sport master plan.”

Hence, the governor explained that achieving the set objectives of the second term bid necessitated the unveiling of an effective campaign council.

He therefore charged the campaign council to engage in constructive and issue based campaign that would foster development for the development and good of the people of Ogun State.

He said, “We must work tirelessly as we did three years and six months ago.

“We must engage in constructive and issue based campaign in line with the provisions of the electoral and rule of engagements. We have done more than enough projects to ease our campaign while we promised to do more for the benefits of the people of Ogun State if voted into power again.

“Your appointment into this campaign is based on your track record and contributions to the growth and development of our party, hence you are expected to live up to the expectation by winning the State for the progressives again in the presidential, Gubernatorial, Senate, House of Reps and the House of Assembly elections. Our campaign must percolates to the grassroots for the good of our party.”

“Distinguished ladies and gentlemen these and many more are my plans as we aspire for our Second term in office. We do not have monopoly of ideas on governance and Administration; hence, I beckon on you to join hands together with me to continue to build the future of our State together.” He submitted.
