The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested 16 suspected drug lords, seized tons of narcotics in Lagos and intercepted 4,448 kilograms of cannabis sativa in Ondo State, Delta and Kebbi respectively.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered via a Twitter Post on the NDLEA verified Twitter account on Sunday at about 12:33pm.
The spokesperson for the agency, Femi Babafemi posted “NDLEA intercepts Brazil returnee with parcels of cocaine, others in powdered milk, baby food, sound systems at Lagos Airport.
“… Arrests 16 suspects, seized tons of narcotics in Akala, Idumota, Lagos raids; 4,448kgs in Ondo, Delta and Kebbi. ” The post reads.
In another development,i Babafemi said in a statement on Sunday in Abuja that operatives on Tuesday, stormed sharp corner, Ipele forest in Owo area of Ondo state and arrested two suspects.
He made it known that the suspects, Rotimi Oyekan and Precious Aluju were caught with 903.3kgs of cannabis sativa.
He also disclosed that another team of NDLEA operatives nabbed Babatunde Oluyara at Igbotako area of Ondo State bearing 168.5kgs of the narcotics.
Babafemi furthered that the suspect was also arrested with 6kg of “monkey tail” and various quantities of methamphetamine, cocaine and heroin.
“In Kebbi, two suspects: Austine Julius and Sale Yakubu were arrested on Sunday, Dec. 4, along Yawuri-Kebbi road.
“The arrested came with a loaded Dyna Truck with 117 bags of Cannabis Sativa weighing 1,070 kilograms concealed under bags of oranges.
“The following day, Monday, Dec. 5, another set of two suspects: Abdullahi Bala and Ibrahim Wade were intercepted along Koko- Kebbi road.
“They were arrested in a Dyna Truck loaded with 114 bags of the same substance weighing 1,140 kilograms concealed under crates of soft drinks,” he said.
Babafemi said that a raid operation in Abbi town, Ndokwa West LGA, Delta led to the arrest of a pregnant 30-year-old dealer, Aniekem Evelyn, with 1,161kgs of C/S recovered from her warehouse.
