The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Professor Ralph Okey Nwosu has slammed the former Labour Party (LP) Publicity Secretary, Abayomi Arabambi, saying he was ” a destructive agent and hatchet jobber for the APC”
This statement was made on Monday during a press conference at the ADC Party Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.
In the National Chairman’s address on ‘the state of polity in Ogun State and the progress of the ADC’, he said that the Former LP Acting Publicity Secretary was funded by the incumbent Governor of the State, Dapo Abiodun to cause crisis in other political parties.
Nwosu accused that the legal ambush suffered by the party was not as a result of shortcomings of the Party, rather, the undue interference of the APC and other parties in its internal affairs.
Nwosu alleged that the interferences and judicial ambush set to throw the party out of contention for the 2023 Governorship race in the State were tactics of the ruling All Progressives Congress, under the aegis of the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
He said that the governor had used different political parties and individuals to meddle and cause crisis in the party, filing 25 lawsuits against the ADC to displace them.
“It is unfortunate that the judicial ambush that the party currently battles in Ogun State is not due to any indiscretion on our part but rather, it is traceable to the infamous role being played by the ruling APC in Ogun State, under the diminishing watch of Dapo Abiodun – as the ‘Defacto’ sponsors of the litigations; using different political parties and individuals to file 25 different lawsuits against the ADC – with the intention to get us out of contention for the 2023 elections.
“A vivid example (among others) is the indecorous role of the Labour Party in this matter, especially the character played by one Abayomi Arabambi – who was until his recent dismissal, the Acting National Publicity Secretary of the LP.
“This fellow, an unrepeatable political trader and hatchet jobber, was funded by Dapo Abiodun to take the ADC to court over our own internal matters.
“This Arabambi’s notoriety is such that he is playing the same role against his own party both in Ogun and Lagos states; serving as an undisguised destructive agent for the APC in meddling in the affairs of other parties and causing crisis in his own party – a situation that made the NWC of the LP to dismiss him from the party over gross misconducts.
“When a party in government betrays the trust of the masses, mismanages the peoples patrimony and senses that it reserves no moral grounds to seek the people’s mandate for a second term; it resorts to underhand and extreme tactics to get other strong opposition parties disqualified from contesting.
“If you have performed and served meritoriously, you will fear no opposition but in the current circumstance, the APC is fearful of the reward of its own incompetence and failure.
“Let me state unequivocally that the ADC is united and formidable to provide the credible alternative to the failing, clueless, corrupt, inhumane and outgoing administration in Ogun State.
Speaking on the orders of the Federal High Courts that repudiated the validity of the ADC Governorship Candidate, Biyi Otegbeye, and other candidates, the National Chairman said the party “would not query the veracity of those judgements.”
“It is the considered opinion of our legal representatives that the judgments were drenched in advertent inaccuracies, especially when interrogated with existential contexts, points of law and even recent precedence.” He continued, saying the judgements were “on grounds the courts considered plausible to them and as sought for by the plaintiffs.”
“Subsequently,” he said, “we have filed for redress at the Court of Appeal and we are confident that the orders of the lower courts shall be overturned and all our candidates will be revalidated.”
However, in an attempt to get the reaction of the embattled Publicity Secretary for the LP at the time of filing this report proved abortive.
