The Ogun State Gubernatorial candidate of the Action Alliance party, Dr. Samuel Adeyemi has cautioned the state governor, Dapo Abiodun over unpaid November salary of workers in the state.
The AA governorship candidate, in a statement which was released on Wednesday, also warned Abiodun to pay outstanding salary to avoid a “popular uprising”.
Dr. Adeyemi said if the necessary step is not taken by the end of the month, he and his supporters would stage a mass protest across the 20 local governments in the state.
According to him, the incumbent governor has been spending money unnecessarily without settling important issues.
Speaking on dilapidated roads, he queried the contracts and agreements being entered into by the government at the twilight of his(Abiodun’s) administration.
In the same vein, he sympathized with the government’s workers at various levels as he said prompt payment of workers and Pensioners’ salaries and benefits is a mandatory responsibility.
He, therefore, called on the Masses to identify those who genuinely love them and those who are out to deceive them, as he said thunder must not be allowed to strike a second time in the same place.
Meanwhile, the State Government says it has commenced the processing and payment of December 2022 salaries.
The government circulated by the Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress , Tunde Oladunjoye said Staff are expected are expected to start getting alerts latest by tomorrow morning.
The statement read “while the State regrets the delays in the payment of November salaries to some staff (about 15-20% of workforce) due to some hitches with about four banks, the first of such delay since the inception of Dapo Abiodun Administration over three and half years ago; the workers are assured of a blissful Christmas celebration.
“It would be recalled that Ogun State Government is one of the few state governments that have continued to pay the national minimum wage without fail.
“Also, the first assignment carried out by Prince Dapo Abiodun after his swearing-in was the immediate payment of staff salaries even when the departed administration made no provision for the payment.”
