An Ado-Ekiti state high court has sentenced a 60-year-old man, Pious Danladi to six months imprisonment for stealing chairs, a mattress and other items from Apex Group of School, off Ado Ekiti Road, Akure.
PLATFORM TIMES gathered that the convict was employed as a security guard in the school.
He was said to have committed the offence in December, 2021.
Danladi pleaded guilty to the one-count charge of stealing preferred against him.
Police Prosecutor, Inspector Simon Wada, listed items stolen by the convict to include 25 pieces of plastic chairs valued at N62,500, some iron pipes valued at N50,000, two mattresses value at N70,000, four cooking pots valued at N3500 and other items total valued at N189, 000 belonging to Apex Group of School, Akure in care of Stella Akinwale.
He said the convict confessed that he sold the items to some unknown persons.
Presiding Magistrate, Damilola Sekoni, convicted Danladi and sentenced him to six months imprisonment.
Sekoni, however, reduced the sentence to three months to enable the convict work and pay the complainant.
