2023 Imo guber election: Chairman State Elders Council hails Supreme Court judgement

The chairman of the Imo State Council of Elders and the Obi of Obinugwu kingdom, HRM Eze Cletus Ilomuanya, has described the Supreme Court judgement affirming Governor Hope Uzodinma as the authentic winner of the November 11, 2023, gubernatorial election as a victory for the entire Imolites and people of the South East geopolitical zone.

Eze Ilomuanya, co-chairman of the Southern Nigeria Traditional Rulers Council and Chancellor of Federal University, Birnin Kebbi, said Uzodimma’s performances in the South East Zone and his chairmanship of the South East Governors Forum made his Supreme Court victory more significant.

A press statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Kennedy Eweama, said: “Governor Hope Uzodinma’s victory is a victory for the entire South East zone and not just for Imo people alone. The governor has proved his leadership qualities in the zone and needs to be supported to consolidate on the successes so far recorded devoid of distractions arising from a series of litigations.”

He, however, urged the governor to be magnanimous in victory by accommodating and appreciating the views and contributions of his challengers at the electoral tribunals, who are genuinely desirous of contributing their quota to the development of Imo State.

He equally implored those who lost against the governor to see his victory as an act of God.

He stressed that there would only be one governor at a time and pleaded with those who contested against the governor to sheath their swords and think of Imo first.

Eze Ilomuanya further pointed out that everybody now needs to rally round the governor for the general good of the people. He maintained the Supreme Court judgement should cease all hostilities.
