A 40-year-old man, Nuhu Usman, of Dangarga Village in Burra District of Ningi Local Government Area of Bauchi State has accidentally killed one of his two wives with a Dane gun.
The spokesman of the Bauchi Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, who informed journalists of the incident on Friday said the suspect ‘accidentally’ shot the wife thinking it was his eldest son who had threatened to ‘harm him’ after a misunderstanding between the duo.
He said the wife went out to use the restroom and upon her return to the room, he took out his gun and shot her thinking it was his son that had come into the room.
“The victim was rushed to the General Hospital Burra, but was certified dead by a medical doctor.
“The state Commissioner of Police, CP Aminu Alhassan, directed that the suspect be charged to court on completion of the investigation,” he stated.
In a related development, a 50-year-old woman identified as Amina Guguwa, has also been arrested for allegedly killing her co-wife in Warji Local Government Area of Bauchi State following a fight between them.
Spokesman of the State Police Command, Ahmed Wakil, confirmed the incident to journalists on Friday.
Wakil said that the suspect, Amina Guguwa, of Miya Village, strangled her co-wife, Amina Koli, 60 years old, during a fight that occurred on January 1, 2023.
“Amina Guguwa, the suspect, criminally used force on the victim by strangling her neck tightly and as a result, she died on the spot.
“On receiving the report, a team of detectives was drafted and rushed to the scene and they evacuated the victim to the Casual Hospital, Ganjuwa for a post-mortem examination, where she was certified dead by a medical doctor,” he stated.
