A 24-year old Barakat Aroge gave who gave birth to the first baby of the year in Ogun State, has pleaded to the wife of the state governor, Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun to empower her .
Barakat gave birth to a baby boy weighing 3.6kg exactly 12: am January 1,2023 at the State Hospital, Ijaye,Abeokuta .
PLATFORM TIMES visited the hospital and interacted with the mother of the year in the state who lauded the first lady of the state, but,, expressed fear over the family’s financial capability to take care of the baby of the year .
She said the baby was her first child and that she never planned to give birth January 1.
She said “It is a mere coincidence, my. EDD, (Expected Delivery Date ) showed 26 and 27th of December. But I didn’t go into labour till the 31st of December and to the glory of God I delivered at midnight on the first of January.”
On how he felt giving birth to the first baby, Aroge said “Well, I was elated and happy because of that fact. And more so, the way I was celebrated. And my husband was happy as well.
“I was happy because it’s not everyday you have the governor’s wife meeting you and even carrying your baby. I am grateful to her for the gift. May God continue to bless her and her family.”
Speaking on here means of livelihood, she said “I am a graphic designer. And that is what I do all the time.”
She however appealed for help from the first lady and others for sustainance, saying, “I will appreciate it if the government can establish my graphic designing business because I need assistance to develop it.”
On the plans for her new baby, Aroge said “I have great plans for him. I will only pray to the Almighty to bless me enough to be able to fulfill my wishes for him.”
On the treatment she got from the health workers , she said “I appreciate their hospitality. They are friendly and accommodating. When I need things they get them even when my husband is not around.
“The nurses here are not hostile they are very friendly contrary to the speculations about them.”
