Delta state information commissioner, Mr. Charles Aniagwu has cautioned that the desire to rebuild a better Nigeria Shouldn’t be based on blackmailing and telling lies but should be on the ground of truth.
Mr. Aniagwu spoke when reacting to allegation by Labour Party chieftain, prof. Pat Utomi that the state government prevented them from using public facilities in their rallying at Asaba.
He said the labour party in the state did not write to the state government as to use public facilities nor inform them.
He added that ” somebody as highly placed as prof. Pat Utomi went into social media and media, laying claim that they Labour Party wrote, and they were denied access”.
He maintained that the Labour Party has continued to display and create the impression that they are being oppressed across the country and make it look as if to attract sympathy from the public.
The Commissioner disclosed that” somebody represented prof. Pat Utomi (Kelly Ojofor) called him on Sunday morning ahead of the rally on Monday morning that if the state can give them the Arcade event ground for their campaign”.
He noted that the Labour Party did not write to the state to know security arrangements that they have put in place so that as a ruling party, they too can put security arrangements to complement theirs, saying it is the responsibility of the state government to protect citizens at the rally irrespective of political affiliation.
He said, ” prof Utomi wanting to tell lies went to the media and social media and alleged that state government denied them from using public venue”. We know what they want to do.
” Every political party is free to campaign at any time and anywhere provided that they do not infringe on the right of any other person, he added.
