…. Don’t vote gambler, drunkard, Abiodun Warns
I ‘m Not A Pope ,Says Adebutu
Sodiq Mojibola
As the 2023 governorship election is fast approaching, the governorship candidates of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state, Dapo Abiodun and his counterpart in the People’s Democratic Party in the state, Oladipupo Adebutu have clashed over the allegations of drug abuse and drunkeness.
Abiodun who is the incumbent governor of the state fired the first salvo at his two public outings held in Remo and Ewekoro local government areas of the state .
Abiodun reiterated the warning at the recent political campaign held in Ewekoro where he cautioned the people of the state to be wary of who to vote for.
Abiodun who is seeking a second term also warmed the people of the State against voting for those that will squander the fortunes of the State, saying Oke-Mosan’s governor’s office is not a “beer parlor”.
PLATFORM TIMES observed that the statement from Abiodun is believed to be referring to his opponents, especially, Adebutu .
Abiodun said, governance is a serious business that requires serious minded people who are ready to serve the people and not waste the resources of the state on “beer and gambling”.
He said “Oke-mosan is not for drunk. We shall not use your money to drink beer, we shall not use money for gambling. We shall use our money judiciously.”
When asked to react to the statement by Abiodun on Oke-Mosan not a beer parlour, Adebutu said he believed the governor was not referring to him.
He said “Well, If Dapo Abiodun said Oke-Mosan is not a beer parlor, of course, Oke-Mosan is not a beer parlour and I am sure he was not talking to me.
“I am certain we should be more concerned about drug abuse in general because beer drinking is not one of the drugs you can talk about.
“I will be more concerned about the use of heroin, cocaine, and that is why I have stated in different fora that people in higher offices make sure they are making correct decisions with their brains working correctly from time to time.”
He however recommended that himself, Abiodun and others vying for leadership positions in the state e subjected to drug tests .
He said “they should be subjected to drug tests because if you see some actions and decisions that people in high offices take, you will have to say to yourself that this is not normal and these people are not normal.
“So, it is not only about drinking beer but about other drugs as well. We must test this leadership for drug abuse.”
When asked if he will pass a drug test, Adebutu said “I am available 24/7. I invite them to submit themselves 24/7 as well.”
On whether he drinks or not , Adebutu said “I don’t drink heavily but, I am not a pope.”
