A 28-year-old Zayyanu Abubakar has been arrested by Police Command in Kebbi for allegedly raping an eight-year-old girl in Wasagu, Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Nafi’u Abubakar disclosed this on Thursday, in a statement issued in Birnin Kebbi .
Abubakar said that on Jan. 7, at about 4:00 p.m. the father of the girl reported the matter to the Divisional Police Headquarters, Wasagu.
Abubakar said that the complainant informed the police that the suspect, who lives in the Masallaci area of Wasagu, at about 1:00p.m, allegedly raped his daughter, aged eight years.
He said the father alleged that the suspect took the girl into an uncompleted building, threatened to kill her with a knife, ate her fried grasshopper worth N2,500 and forcefully had sexual intercourse with her.
The police spokesman said the suspect had been arrested and transferred to Criminal Investigation Department for further investigation and possible prosecution.
