The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has officially endorsed President Bola Tinubu for re-election in the 2027 presidential election.
Governor Charles Soludo of Anambra State made the announcement on Thursday during President Tinubu’s working visit to the state.
The declaration was made at a rally held at Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka, which drew a large crowd of party faithful and supporters.
Soludo, who is also a prominent figure within APGA, described the endorsement as a “progressive alliance” between APGA and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
He stressed that both parties share common ideological values centered on development and inclusive governance.
“Progressives are working together,” Soludo declared, affirming APGA’s decision to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition.
The endorsement signals a significant political shift as APGA, a dominant party in the South-East, throws its weight behind the APC-led federal government, potentially reshaping electoral calculations ahead of the 2027 polls.
President Tinubu, who has continued nationwide consultations and project inaugurations, is yet to formally declare his intention to run, but Thursday’s development adds momentum to speculations surrounding his re-election bid.
Political analysts say the alliance could bolster the APC’s standing in the South-East, a region where it has historically struggled to gain widespread support.
This move also comes amid recent political realignments, with notable defections and endorsements occurring across the country as political parties prepare for the 2027 general elections.
