…Obi, Kwankwaso May Claim ADC Ticket
…Political Strategists Predict Tense Negotiations Ahead

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Saturday held a high-profile meeting with Yabagi Yusuf Sani, National Chairman of the Action Democratic Party (ADP), and other senior party officials at his Abuja residence, intensifying speculation about possible political realignments ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The meeting comes amid persistent rumours that former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi and ex-Kano State Governor Rabiu Kwankwaso could secure the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential ticket to challenge President Bola Tinubu.
Political analysts warn that such a scenario could complicate Atiku’s own presidential ambitions under the ADC platform.
However, ADP National Chairman Yabagi Yusuf Sani dismissed claims that the engagement was aimed at party mergers or recruiting any individual.
“The meeting was purely consultative,” he stressed, adding that no decisions regarding alliances or candidacies were taken.
Political observers describe the 2027 race as shaping up to be one of the most unpredictable in recent history, with multiple contenders exploring cross-party negotiations and coalition arrangements.
The ADP, historically a minor party, has in recent months emerged as a key player, attracting attention from opposition figures seeking alternative platforms amid growing political realignments.
