The Ketu Intelligentsia Forum has endorsed a former governorship candidate, Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, as its preferred choice for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election under the platform of the All Progressives Congress.
The group, in a statement issued on Wednesday in Abeokuta, said the endorsement followed what it described as a “thorough deliberative process” involving community leaders, youth groups and policy stakeholders across Yewa-Ketuland and the state.
The statement, signed by its Chairman, Dr Ayilara Muraina, and Secretary-General, Prince Sola Bamigbade, noted that the decision was based on competence, leadership capacity and a clear understanding of Ogun State’s socio-economic dynamics.
The forum described Isiaka as a resilient politician with a consistent vision for the development of the state, adding that his persistence in the political space reflected a genuine commitment to public service.
It also cited his experience in both the private sector and public economic management as a major advantage, stressing that he possesses the capacity to bridge the gap between policy formulation and implementation.
According to the group, “Isiaka does not require a learning curve, as he understands the economic and administrative structure of Ogun State.”
Highlighting what it termed his economic expertise, the forum said the aspirant has a firm grasp of both macro and micro-economic realities, including industrial development and grassroots economic needs.
The group added that his leadership style, which it linked to the Yoruba “Omoluabi” ethos, emphasises integrity, inclusiveness and respect for the people.
KIF further stated that Ogun State would require a leader with strong economic insight and moral standing to consolidate on the achievements of the incumbent governor, Dapo Abiodun, whose tenure ends in May 2027.
While calling on members of the APC and residents of the state to support Isiaka’s ambition, the forum maintained that its position was not influenced by regional considerations but by what it described as “a clinical assessment of the state’s future needs.”
“We urge all well-meaning stakeholders to rally behind Isiaka for a governance model driven by knowledge, character and sustainable development,” the statement added.
The endorsement comes amid early political alignments and consultations ahead of the 2027 general elections in Ogun State.
