President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid received a significant boost yesterday as thousands of youths in Ogun State declared their support for his 2027 campaign.
The youths also reaffirmed their backing for Governor Dapo Abiodun’s ambition to represent Ogun East in the Senate.
The show of support followed a loyalty walk organized in Ijebu-Ode, where young people thronged major streets, waving banners and singing solidarity songs in support of the APC leadership at both state and federal levels.
Addressing the gathering at the Awujale Pavilion, Hon. Dapo Okubadejo, Commissioner for Finance and Chief Economic Adviser to the Ogun State Government, highlighted the state administration’s youth-centred development policies.
Represented by the Government Liaison Officer of Ijebu-Ode Local Government, Olatokunbo Tosin, Okubadejo delivered a paper titled “From Policy to Prosperity: Youth-Centred Economic Pathway under Dapo Abiodun Administration.”
“Policies do not change lives. Outcomes do. Budgets do not empower people. Impact does,” Okubadejo said, noting that youth empowerment in Ogun State is treated as economic infrastructure rather than charity.
He listed key achievements of the Abiodun administration, including the Ogun State Youth Empowerment Programme, which provides skills training and financial support to thousands of young people, as well as investments in agriculture aimed at generating jobs and boosting economic growth.
“Potential alone does not create prosperity. What creates prosperity is intentional policy, disciplined implementation, and strategic investment,” he said, urging youths to take ownership of the future being prepared for them.
Speaking to journalists, National President of the APC Youth League, Comrade Olamide Lawal, said February 11 holds symbolic significance in Ogun’s political history.
He recalled attacks on Abiodun supporters during the 2019 elections but noted the governor’s subsequent electoral victory.
“Today’s walk celebrates resilience, performance, and loyalty. Ogun youths are here to show genuine love and unwavering support for leaders who deliver results,” Lawal said.
Other party leaders, including APC Youth League State Coordinator Yunus Fayomi and Comrade Oluwafemi Ajayi of the National Association of Ogun State Students, echoed similar sentiments, praising both Tinubu’s federal reforms and Abiodun’s focus on infrastructure, job creation, and youth empowerment.
Representatives of other youth groups in Ogun State, including the Nigeria Youth Organization and Nigeria Youth Congress, also reaffirmed their support for the APC-led administrations at the state and federal levels.
The event concluded with the youths vowing continued mobilisation and advocacy for policies promoting development and empowerment in Ogun State and across Nigeria.
