Ogun State police command has confirmed the death of 23-year-old Ayodele Gabriel, who was found unconscious in his bathroom after a fire broke out in his apartment at Sakura Estate, Sagamu, Ogun State.

The Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, on Thursday, said the deceased was taken to the Olabisi Onabanjo University Teaching Hospital in Sagamu, where he was pronounced dead.

Odutola stated that the landlord, Oluwaseun Emmanuel, had reported the incident to the Sakaru police division, that on noticing the fire, he alerted neighbouring residents who assisted in extinguishing and forcing the door open.

She noted that investigations are ongoing to unravel the cause of the fire.

Odutola said, “The incident was reported to the Sakura Police Division on August 28, 2024, by the landlord.
“We have started our investigation. Our men went to the scene; the cause of the fire is unknown.”
