The Ogun State Police Command has arrested a 25-year-old man over the alleged stabbing of five persons, which left two dead and three others critically injured in the Olambe area of Ifo Local Government Area of the state.
Police spokesperson, DSP Okuseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the incident in a statement on Wednesday in Abeokuta, describing the attack as a violent fallout from unresolved business disputes.
According to him, the attack occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, April 7, at about 1:38 a.m., when the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and attacked the victims.
He said two of the victims — Gbadamasi Ibrahim, 25, and Chinedu, 40 — died while being rushed to the hospital, where medical personnel confirmed them dead on arrival.
Babaseyi added that three other victims — Mohammed Abubakar, 35; Ashiru Adamu, 25; and Paul Lawrence, 25 — sustained severe injuries and are currently receiving treatment in a critical condition.
“The suspect reportedly stabbed five people after failed business dealings. He fled the scene immediately after the attack,” the police spokesman stated.
He, however, noted that detectives later trailed and apprehended the suspect, who is now in police custody.
The police said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for a comprehensive investigation and prosecution.
Reacting to the incident, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Bode Ojajuni, condemned the attack, describing it as a “barbaric act” and assuring residents that justice would be served.
Ojajuni also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities that could threaten peace and security in the state.

The police said investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
