A Federal High Court sitting in Kano State has convicted and sentenced 29 internet fraudsters to jail.
The convicts were prosecuted by the Kaduna Zonal Directorate of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on separate one-count charges each, on offences that border on impersonation, cybercrime, retention of proceeds of crime and money laundering.
They all pleaded guilty when the charges were read to each of them, following which prosecution counsel M. U. Gadaka and M. Lawal prayed the court to convict and sentence them accordingly, while the defence counsel pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.
