A Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State, has ordered the remand of three defendants at the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over an alleged armed robbery and murder.
The prosecutor, Inspector Akinwale Oriyomi, informed the court that the defendants, James Sunday (33), Ponzin Raman (39) and Simon Peter (43), were reasonably suspected to have committed the offence of conspiracy, armed robbery and murder of one Ganiyi Afolayan.
Inspector Oriyomi noted that the offences were punishable under Sections 314, 279(1)(a) and 234 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State 2021.

The prosecutor said the duplicate case file has been sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice, asking the court to remand the defendants pending the outcome of the DPP’s report.
Chief Magistrate Abayomi Adeosun ordered the remand of the defendants and adjourned the case till July 1, for mention.
