An Akure Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded a 33-year-old man, Oladipo Akintade, at the Olokuta Correctional Centre for allegedly stabbing his neighbour to death.

Magistrate R.I Adelakin, who did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered that the case file be sent to the office of the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

He remanded Akintade pending the outcome of the legal advice and adjourned the case until March 27 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Folashade Adeyemi, told the court that the defendant committed the alleged offence on Jan. 10, at Omifunfun, within the court’s jurisdiction.

According to him, the defendant had a misunderstanding with the victim, a 45-year-old Dole Akinrinola.

He said that the defendant stabbed the victim in his left rib.

The prosector said the victim was rushed to a clinic, but was pronounced dead on arrival.

According to Adeyemi, the offence contravene Section 319 of the Criminal Law of Ondo State, 2006.

Adeyemi had prayed the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre.
