In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through the community, 84-year-old Gabriel Ahuwa has been apprehended by Edo State Police Command for allegedly taking the life of his 75-year-old wife.

The motive behind the grisly act is reported to be the wife’s refusal to engage in sexual activity with her husband.

The heartbreaking incident came to light as Ahuwa was among the 198 suspects paraded by the State Police Command’s spokesperson, SP Chidi Nwabuzor.

The group of suspects were arrested on charges ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, unlawful possession of firearms, murder, cultism, and other offenses.

Sharing his side of the story with journalists, Ahuwa, a father of seven children, claimed that his wife had repeatedly denied his sexual advances for an extended period.

He expressed his frustration at his wife’s alleged infidelity and even claimed to have sought intervention from their children and family members.

According to Ahuwa, his wife’s response remained unchanged, leaving him distraught and resentful.

Ahuwa, who appeared to be deeply affected by the situation, confessed to the crime stating, “My wife is not listening to me, anytime I asked her to come and sleep with me she always declines.”

He went on to detail his unsuccessful attempts to reason with her, mentioning her supposed excuses of illness and ulcers.

“I reported the matter to my family and her family, but she failed to listen to them and continue her old ways, and I was hearing information that pastors were sleeping her,” Ahuwa lamented, highlighting the alleged rumors of his wife’s involvement with other men.

The tragedy took a further dark turn when Ahuwa accused his late wife of turning their children against him.

He claimed that his children had stopped sending him money and were ignoring his calls due to his wife’s influence.

Explaining the shocking events leading up to the crime, Ahuwa admitted, “So on Saturday last week in the afternoon, in the house, I picked up a cutlass and [cut] her all over her body. I did it in anger because she is not obeying me and I want people to know of it.”

As the investigation unfolds, the local community is grappling with the tragic incident that has left a family shattered and a community in disbelief.

Amidst remorse, Ahuwa has expressed regret for his actions, but the profound impact of this tragic incident continues to resonate deeply.
