In April 2014, 276 schoolgirls were kidnapped from a government secondary school in Chibok, a town in Borno State, Nigeria. Some of the girls escaped captivity on their own, while others were later released following intense campaigning efforts by civil society organizations and negotiations by the government.
It is quite disheartening and saddened that in a democratic state like Nigeria, where peace and justice are our watchwords, we find ourselves incapacitated of bringing justice to our present predicament as a Nation.
A state like Nigeria is made up of people organized by law within a definite geographical territory.
The tenet of the constitution needs to be upheld by the Nigeria Government, as stated in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that the primary purpose of the Nigeria Government is the Security and welfare of the great people of Nigeria.
Chapter 14 subsection (2) (a) and (b) of the Nigeria 1999 Constitution stated, “It is hereby, accordingly, declared that: (a) sovereignty belongs to the people of Nigeria from whom government through this Constitution derives all its powers and authority; (b) the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government: and
Any Governmental regime that fails to enforce or execute what is stipulated as its primary role has failed woefully.
Although the upliftment of the sovereignty of the Nigerian State is what the Nigerian Government needs to uphold, however,r the government must ensure that while upholding that, there can be an adjustment in the mode of governmental operation.
If after 13 Years of two different administrations, the first that of former President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan under the political party People’s Democratic Party (PDP) with the mantra Power to the People who ruled Nigeria for 6 Years 9 February 2010 – 6 May 2010 and 6 May 2010 – 29 May 2015 and the outgoing Administration of His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari who is ruling Nigeria for 8 Years May 29th, 2015 – May 29th, 2023 under the Democratic Party of All Progressives Congress ( APC).
It is of utmost precipitation for the next administration of president-elect Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (Jagaban) to rewrite the wrong of the previous administration in the upliftment of fundamental obligations of government.
With his experience in Lagos State in which he was able to curb insecurity within the state from 1999 – 2007, he should be able to make use of necessary rounders around the world to curb this menace of insecurity within our Nation.
The fundamental human right of Nigerians should be the property of the next administration both locally and Nationally.
Imagine 9 (Nine) good years after the Chibok girls were adopted in Borno State, Nigeria, Justice has not been served to the victims of this evil perpetuation.
According to Amnesty International, when some of those Chibok girls were released from captivity, they’ve been impregnated and some of them has given birth to children from an unknown father who was projected to be the terrorist that kidnapped those Chibok School Girls.
It is time for us all to come to the consciousness that the future of this Nation is embedded in the younger generations and if the younger generations are being molested by some unknown forces which happen to be the terrorist, the enemies of the Nigeria State, then we need a National Resuscitation of our security tides by the Government.
There needs to be a proper orientation and moderation in the daily operation of governmental execution to cater to the welfare of the people within the State.
A law formulated by God-fearing lawmakers (legislatives) will exhibit the fear of God in its moderation of the affairs of the State.
