    Lagos man docked over alleged N1.8m fraud

    A 43-year-old man, Adekunle Abodunrin, on Tuesday, appeared before a Badagry Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, for alleged N1.8 million fraud.

    Abodunrin, whose address was not provided, is facing a three-count charge of fraud, stealing and breach of peace.

    He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

    The Prosecutor, ASP Clement Okuoimose told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Aug. 2, 2023, at Owode Plank Market, Luri Bus stop, Badagry, Lagos.




    Okuoimose said that the defendant obtained N1.8 million from the complainant, Mr Kasim Saka, to help him buy some planks from Ondo State but failed to do so.

    He said that the defendant converted the money to his personal use.

    Okuoimose said the defendant conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by fraudulently obtaining the money from the complainant.

    The Chief Magistrate, Mr A. J. Aina granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum.

    Aina said the sureties must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.

    He adjourned the case until November 11 for mention, NAN reports.
