EPL: I like him, he’s got class – Michael Owen hails Italian star

Former Liverpool, Real Madrid and Manchester striker, Michael Owen, has labelled Federico Chiesa as a classic player.

He said the Italian is a good signing for Liverpool suggesting the former Juventus ace joined the Premier League team as a rotational option.

Chiesa left Juventus in a potential £12.5 million move to join the Reds last month.

The 26-year-old forward made his debut for the Reds in their 3-1 UEFA Champions League win at AC Milan.

The Italy international started his first game for them in a 5-1 league cup victory over West Ham United on Wednesday.

Speaking to DAZN, Owen said via Liverpool Echo,
“I like him as a player, I think he’s got a lot of class. He’s obviously experienced as well and I think he’s a good player to bring in to bolster the squad.

“If he does really well, then of course he’s going to hold a place down, but as things start at the early stage of the season… I would suggest that he will be more of an impact player and he’s going to have to play his way into the team.”
